Solskjaer showers praise on Marcus Rashford

United registered their third consecutive win under new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 4-1 whitewash of Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday. Solskjaer’s arrival has seen the Red Devils adopt a much more attacking and free-flowing brand of football and Marcus Rashford has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Norwegian’s reign so far.

The English international found himself in and out of the team under Jose Mourinho earlier in the season but has featured regularly under Solskjaer, taking his game to a different level.

Rashford scored his fourth goal in his last six games across all competitions as the youngster impressed with his well-rounded display against Bournemouth. He created Pogba’s opener with a sublime piece of skill to outsmart Nathan Ake before scoring the third with a clinical finish.

It wasn’t only about the goal and the assist but the youngster impressed his manager with his work-rate, intent and positive body language as well.

“Marcus has been class since I’ve come,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports. “He’s scored two now in three games.

“His work rate is unbelievable. He closes down, chases, runs in behind, and the skill for the first goal was brilliant.

“[For the first goal] he holds the ball up, he hasn’t got a right really to go past the second [defender, Diego Rico]. He’s got all the chances in the world, the potential of becoming a top striker.”
