Southampton could take Petr Cech in emergency loan deal

Southampton are lining up a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech as cover for Fraser Forster, who may be out for a year with a knee injury.

Kelvin Davis has been deputising between the sticks for the Saints, since Forster suffered the injury against Burnley.

However, manager Ronald Koeman is thought to be seeking a top-class stopper on a short-term deal.

Cech has lost his number one status at Chelsea this season to Thibault Courtois.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reluctant to lose Cech, while the Premier League title still to be wrapped up.

According to reports, including Tuttomercatoweb, an emergency one-month loan deal may be agreed between the two clubs.
