Southampton are reportedly holding out for £25million for their star Adam Lallana as they face interest from Premier League runners-up Liverpool.

According to reports, The Reds made a formal offer of around £20million on Monday, but that is £5m short of The Saints’ asking-price as they try to fight off interest for their star-men.

It is widely expected that both Lallana and Luke Shaw will be leaving the club this Summer with Liverpool and Manchester United their likely destinations, but Mauricio Pochettino is keen to avoid losing them on the cheap.

Shaw is expected to go for around £27m, whilst Saints want at least £25m for their star-midfielder.

Both players have been recently called up to Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad after having superb seasons for Southampton, but with those star performances comes interest from bigger clubs.

Brendan Rodgers has made Lallana his number-one target this Summer, while United want to sign Shaw even though they haven’t got a manager in place as of yet.
