Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has said he is fully focused on the World Cup after the disappointment on missing out on the Premier League title with Liverpool.

Gerrard is seen as one of the senior players in Roy Hodgson’s England squad so the manager will be hoping that Gerrard has a clear head.

Liverpool were on top of the Premier League with 3 games left when Gerrard slipped and let Demba Ba in to score for Chelsea in a 2-0 at Anfield which dented Liverpool’s title challenge.

Gerrard has said “I know everyone wants to know what frame of mind I’m in after the slip that happened to me against Chelsea,” He continued “I’m over it. It’s gone. I can’t change it, but of course I was disappointed in it from a personal point of view. The title slipping away from Liverpool with three games to go was a blow.

Gerrard also went on to add “I’m in a good frame of mind. Everyone’s starting to get really excited and looking forward to the tournament getting started. “This is the important part, the preparation, making sure you get into peak condition. You try and find your form before that very important game against Italy.”
