Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has made interesting comments about Luis Suarez’s return by admitting that he is ‘chomping’ at the bit to get back into the first-team.

The Uruguayan has just finished serving a 10-match ban which he picked up last season due to biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic and his manager seems to have made a pun in an interview ahead of the striker’s return.

It is not yet clear whether or not Suarez will start for Liverpool against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, but he is expected to feature at least and Rodgers has revealed that he is ‘chomping’ at the bit to be back.

‘It has been a really difficult time for him not playing games,’ he said.

‘How he has prepared himself over the last number of weeks has been fantastic.

‘He’s really chomping at the bit to help the team.

‘Everyone knows the depth of his quality and his attitude.

‘Once he gets back on the field again he will show what he has shown since he’s been here.’

When asked whether or not the striker had learnt his lesson, Rodgers replied with: ‘We will see.’
