Sweden thrash Mexico and go through to the Last 16 round.

The Swedes advanced to the World Cup last 16 after defeating Mexico 3-0 on Wednesday.

Both Mexico and Sweden go through to last 16 of World Cup.

The Swedes started the day in third place in Group F.

It was that Ludwig Augustinsson’s superb volley in the 50th minute that got them off to great start in the second half.

Andreas Granqvist’s penalty in the 62nd minute made it 2-0 and later Mexico’s Edson Alvarez scored an own goal 74th minute.

Three goals seemed enough as the Swedes managed to leap to top spot with a tremendous display in Yekaterinburg.

Despite of Mexico’s loss and fear about elimination, but Korea Republic’s late goal against Germany were the group deciders.

Both Mexico and Sweden go through to last 16 of World Cup.

Despite stunning Italy in the play-offs, not many expected Sweden to advance from Group F in Russia, especially without Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Looks like they have shown unique unity and skill of their own to make it to the round of 16 for the first time since 2006.

Sweden have now reached the Last 16 of the World Cup every time that they have qualified for the tournament.
