Arsenal keen on extending Englishman’s stay
Arsenal are set to enter contract talks with winger, Theo Walcott, despite the Englishman only penning a new deal 38-games ago.
The 25-year-old, who has just returned from a nine-month injury lay-off, penned a new deal at the Emirates Stadium 18-months ago, ending all speculation that he could have followed Robin Van Persie out of the team.
However, the Arsenal board are now keen on entering new contract talks with the pacey forward.
Walcott, who is one of the club’s top-earners, currently earns around £90k-a-week, but it’s believed the new deal will see him earn an impressive pay-rise, seeing him earn similar figures to Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
It’s reported that his new deal will be worth around £135k-a-week.
Walcott’s current deal expires in 2016, but Arsene Wenger has revealed talks are underway already.
‘We are starting to sit down with him. I think he has one and a half years to go in December. It is never an easy job with him,’ said Wenger.
