Thomas Tuchel has revealed Marco Verratti has suffered a setback on his road to recovery from the ankle injury.

The Italian midfielder was supposed to make his return in Paris Saint Germain’s 3-0 Coupe de France Round of 16 victory over Villefranche-Beaujolais but wasn’t even included the squad.

With Neymar already ruled out Verratti’s absence could be a big blow for the French side. Neymar suffered a foot injury against Strasbourg and is expected to be on the sidelines till April.

Tuchel had hoped to have the player at his disposal in the Champions League last 16 tie at the Old Trafford on Next Tuesday but things have become complicated for the Italy international who watched his side from the stands struggling against a Third tier team.

PSG huffed and puffed as the game had to be extended till extra time and three strikes from Julian Draxler, Moussa Diaby and Edinson Cavani sealed a victory for the French champions.

Tuchel said, “Marco was unable to finish training on Tuesday

“He had problems and I have to wait until Thursday to be able to take a decision over playing him against Bordeaux.

“Marco’s new issue is something else (not the same ankle), but I do not really know much more.”
