French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has joined AC Milan on loan from Chelsea. Bakayoko will spend this season at San Siro and Milan will also have the option to buy the 23-year old for £35.6 million.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea from Monaco for a fee of £40 million. He was a regular for Chelsea last season, playing 43 matches across all competitions. The 23-year old scored three goals and provided as many assists last season.
However, this season Chelsea have strengthened their midfield by signing Jorginho from Napoli. They already have N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic arrived to the club on loan from Real Madrid. Hence, it was sure that Bakayoko wouldn’t get enough playing time at Chelsea this season. Bakayoko wasn’t even in Chelsea’s squad for their Premier League opener against Huddersfield Town.
Tiemoue Bakayoko is Milan’s 11th signing this season and the club’s 2nd loan signing. Milan’s other signings include Ivan Strinic, Pepe Reina, Mattia Caldara and Gonzalo Higuain.
AC Milan have said that Bakayoko will be presented to the media on Friday. Milan begin their Serie A campaign against Genoa on Sunday.
