3. Marcell Jansen
In third is Marcell Jansen, he signed for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2007 the youngster was signed from his home town club Borussia Monchengladbach for £9.80 million as a long-term successor of Zé Roberto and Bixente Lizarazu. Marcell Jansen was good at his position and was considered one of the best young talents in Europe.
After just a year with Bayern the young man was offloaded to Bundesliga rivals Hamburg after a series of injuries and falling out of favor with then manager Jürgen Klinsmann.
At Hamburg, he went on to make 187 appearances for the club before retiring at the age of 29 when the club didn’t offer him a contract extension.
