Tottenham Hotspur have offered Christian Eriksen a new contract to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2020 but the Dane is yet to put pen to paper.

The 26-year-old is a highly important figure at White Hart Lane and formulates a part of the offensive ‘fab four’. Spurs have forwarded their intentions on keeping the attacking midfielder for long by doubling his £75,000-per-week wages.

Reports also claim that Barcelona and Real Madrid are admirers of the Denmark international. Eriksen truly is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League right now if not in world football. He has scored in 4 of the last 5 league games for Tottenham and is only second behind Kevin De Bruyne(34) to make more assists (32) in the English top flight.

He arrived at North London in 2013 and has developed into a prime figure in the Tottenham lineup under Mauricio Pochettino.

Speaking to the press regarding Eriksen’s contract, Pochettino was quoted, “The phrase is no news is good news but, in this case, I don’t know [if that’s true].”

It is almost a given that Real Madrid and Barcelona will be able to offer the 26-year-old bigger contracts and Eriksen knows that. Tottenham will be forced to hear out transfer offers from interested parties if the Dane enters the final year of his agreement next season.
