According to reports, Tottenham made a late attempt to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi

The Daily Mail report that Tottenham made an approach for Batshuayi but were turned away by the Premier League champions.

Spurs then went after Fernando Llorente and managed to agree a £12.1m deal with Swansea City on deadline day.

The Blues had also explored the possibility of signing Llorente, who played under Antonio Conte at Juventus, but reports claim that the Premier League champions did not submit an official offer.

Batshuayi, meanwhile, faces another season as Conte’s second-choice striker following the arrival of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Earlier this week, Eden Hazard sent some sound advice to the £33m signing from Marseille, say he should look elsewhere in order to secure more playing time.

‘He is 23 years old. If he wants to progress, he must play,’ said Hazard.

‘Especially if Chelsea sign Llorente, he will have less playing time.

‘I am disappointed for him because he has had a very good pre-season.’
