New Trabzonspor manager Valid Halilhodzic worked with Kolo Toure when he was manager of the Ivorian national team and he is looking to bolster his defensive options by signing the Liverpool man.

And according to Turkish newspaper Milliyet, Trabzonspor president Burak Gurda will travel to England this week to begin transfer negotiations with the Merseyside club.

Toure signed a two year deal when he moved to Anfield from Manchester City last summer and has since gone on to make 15 Premier League starts.

However chances in the first team are likely to decrease for the Ivorian with Southampton’s Dejan Lovren looking to set to sign for the Reds.

This may convince manager Brenden Rodgers to offload Toure as he has been seen as not always reliable in defence and defensive duo Skrtel and Agger enjoyed good campaigns last time out.
