Unai Emery Ready To Start Danny Welbeck In The Premier League

Unai Emery has hinted Danny Welbeck might earn his first Premier League start in the next game when Arsenal take on Watford.

Welbeck gave a pretty good account of himself in the Carabao Cup win over Brentford as his brace helped the Gunners in securing a smooth passage to the next round. The England international has been frustrated over lack of game time but his performance in the cup competition could have a larger impact on Emery’s team selection.

If Welbeck is to find a place in the starting lineup either Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has to sacrifice their position and given the current scenario it is looking a bit tough for the boss to drop either of them.

Emery is delighted to have the player at his disposal. “I am very happy individually with the player.

“He gave us his quality and also his commitment every day. Danny Welbeck is working with this commitment and when he is playing also with a performance like today, and I think he’s helping the team and we want this.

“Also, it gives more chances for us to find (him) the first XI for the next match with performances like today. I am very happy with Danny Welbeck.”
