Manchester United are hoping to secure both Mats Hummels and Thomas Vermaelen without spending any money.
Van Gaal has ordered United officials to offer player exchange deals to tempt both Dortmund and Arsenal to sell their centre-backs, whom of which have been watched closely by United in the past month.
Reports claim that Kagawa will be offered to Dortmund for Hummels in a straight trade, with the German club very keen to bring back the former star who they reluctantly sold to United.
Meanwhile, Nani will be showcased by United who hope that Arsenal agree a straight swap without wanting any money as part of a deal.
