Victor Valdes is set to sign for Liverpool in the next fortnight, according to The Daily Express.
The Reds have been trying to push through a deal for the goalkeeper, who is a free-agent, having left Spanish La Liga side Barcelona in the summer.
And it now appears that Brendan Rodgers is set to tie up the potential deal, with Valdes to undergo a medical at the Anfield club during the international break.
Valdes, aged 31, saw a proposed move to French side Monaco fall through at the last minute, with Liverpool in pole position to swoop in a swift manner for the Champions League winning keeper.
A move for Valdes could put further doubt into current number one keeper Simon Mignolet’s squad stature, with the Belgian international coming under increasing pressure in the previous few weeks, following a series of mistakes.
But following his cruciate ligament injury, the Reds seem confident that Valdes can challenge Mignolet for the starting position.
