Spanish side Valencia have warned off any potential suitors of their defender Nicolas Otamendi after placing a £60 million valuation on his head.
The Argentine defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League both in this window and the summer after it was believed Manchester United and Liverpool had registered an interest.
Valencia are hoping to persuade Otamendi to reject any interest and instead sign a new deal at the Mestella, which already currently runs until 2019, however it would likely involve a pay rise.
Whether United and Liverpool are willing to break their transfer records to sign the defender remains to be seen, but it is no secret that both sides are looking to recruit within their defensive ranks.
Any bid is likely to be put off until the summer with just one day remaining in the January transfer window. Valencia are also on course to qualify for the Champions League so will be keen to keep hold of one of their most prized assets.
