Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has said that he is hopeful of Philippe Coutinho gaining confidence from his brace against Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey quarter-final second leg. The Brazilian scored twice in the match, contributing in a 6-1 routing of their opponents after Pablo Machin’s men took a 2-0 lead in the first leg of the contest. The other goals were scored by Sergi Roberto, Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
Speaking to the media after the match, the Blaugrana gaffer said, “Leo has given it to him to take and he has taken a great responsibility and made it 1-0. I hope the success gives him more confidence.”
Lionel Messi had handed the former Liverpool ace the opportunity to notch up his first of the match as he let him take the spot kick early in the match. The Brazilian did not disappoint and slotted it in the coolest of ways past the keeper and into the net. Coutinho later thanked the Argentine ace for his gesture that let him score one of his two goals and help his side to a resounding result.
