Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie believes that any one of TEN teams could win the Champions League this season. Van Persie was speaking before United’s trip to Athens this week to play Olympiakos in their last 16 tie, but after coming out of their group undefeated, they go into the tie as favourites to oversee the Greek side and make it to the quarter-finals of the competition. The Dutch striker, however, knows that there is a mix of good teams to be drawn against should United make the last eight,

“If you play well and are lucky you have a good chance of going far, but even then I think there are eight to ten teams who could win it this year.”

United have won their previous four games against Olympiakos, but Red’s captain Ryan Giggs believes they will still be worth opponents,

“Once you get to this stage of the competition there are not going to be any easy matches,” said Giggs, “Olympiakos did well in their games in the group stages. We know this match is going to be a tough tie. Olympiakos have a strong team.”

United will be needing to well in this year’s competition, based on their current league form. They currently sit in 7th in the Premier League table, eleven points adrift of 4th placed Liverpool with just eleven more games to go in this season’s campaign.
