Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen is attempting to force a move away from the Emirates.
The Belgian is out of contract at Arsenal next year and is being closely monitored by both Manchester United and favourites Barcelona.
It is understood that Vermaelen is nearing a swith to the Nou Camp for a reported £10m fee, with Arsenal keen to let the player move on for an amount rather than letting him go on a free.
The defender is so focused on a move to a new club, that he has rejected the chance even to enter contract negotiations with Arsenal.
Boss Arsene Wenger was willing to try and convice the player that he did still have a future at the club, but will allow Vermaelen to move to Spain if the tabled offer is good enough.
