Manchester United are set to offer Shinj Kagawa to Atletico Madrid for an exchange for Arda Turan, plus £16 million, according to The Daily Express.
Kagawa is one of United’s fringe players, as recently appointed manager Louis Van Gaal looks to wield the axe upon his squad.
And the Spanish La Liga champions are keen to bolster their squad, following the key departures of both Diego Costa and David Villa recently, and will bid £14 million for Kagawa.
Turkish side Galatasaray are also keen on Kagawa, however Atletico Madrid remain the favourites in the race for his signature.
It is thought that United will use the Japanese international as bait to land Atletico’s Turkish midfielder Arda Turan.
Turan was one of Atletico’s key players in the spine of the centre midfielder, and reports in his homeland in the Turkish press suggest that the sum of £30 million maybe enough to convince Turan to leave Atletico.
