Nemanja Vidic has stated that he wants to leave Manchester United on a high with a Champions League triumph.

Vidic will leave Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign after an eight year spell at Old Trafford.

The defender has won five Premier League titles, three League Cup successes, one Club World Cup triumph and a UEFA Champions League win in 2008, during his time in Manchester.

And following recent reports that the Serbian is all set to join Serie A side Inter Milan in the summer, with Vidic stating that he wants to go out in glory, by winning the UEFA Champions League for the Red Devils.

The United Captain stated…..

“That would be great, but to be fair, I believe we can do something special in the Champions League, I really do.

“If we play solid like we did today, keep our shape, I think we will be a hard team to beat.

“We always have people who can score and that is the way you play in the Champions League – be hard to beat, but be able to score. It’s the only trophy we can win now.

“Olympiakos is a tough game away from home. It is hostile and it is difficult to play there, but if we get a good result we can come back to Old Trafford and finish the game.

“To win the Champions League, you have to defend well as a team. This is the way you should play and that is encouraging for us before we go to Greece.”

Vidic, who captained United to a 2-0 win away at Crystal Palace concluded his interview by stating…

“It is difficult because we are behind and we just have to focus on doing the best we can to get fourth spot.

“It is not going to be an easy task, but we play against Liverpool at Old Trafford soon and I think that is going to be an important match for us.”
