After a debut to remember against Norwich on Saturday, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has high hopes for Danish international Christian Eriksen, and expects him to rise to the challenge that the Premier League will offer.

It took the 21 year old less than half an hour to rack up his first assist in the Premier League and he was also involved in Spurs’ second. “The Premier League will offer him (Eriksen) the kind of challenge he didn’t have in the Dutch league.”

“I think Christian is a pure number 10. That is of his creativity and also the position he has occupied all of his life. He is naturally gifted playing there.”

Speaking after the game against Norwich, Eriksen himself admitted he had other offers on the table but both the club (Spurs) and the league felt very good, therefore it was a easy choice to join Tottenham. The attacking midfielder went on to say that the Tottenham fans are allowed to expect big things this season as a result of some big name signings in the transfer window.

Even at this early stage, the ÂŁ11million paid for the player looks to have been a bargain. Eriksen will have another chance to showcase his abilities for Spurs in the Europa League tie on Thursday night against Tromso – a match which all Spurs fans will be looking forward to.
