Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar has claimed he is happy despite failing to secure a move to Man United or Arsenal this summer. The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for the defender after his impressive performances for Netherlands at the World Cup under new United boss Louis Van Gaal.
Arsenal’s interest only appeared on Transfer Deadline Day, with boss Arsene Wenger looking to improve his defence. However, neither team ended up signing the 29-year old and Vlaar stayed at Aston Villa. But the defender has claimed he isn’t disappointed to be staying at Villa Park, as he told Helden Online:
“I don’t feel disappointed. I have always maintained that I am enjoying myself at Villa and that is still true.
“I just want to keep giving my best here.”
