The Walcott has expressed that the large amount of injured players ahead of the next game against Moldova gives a good opportunity for thr younger players in the camp to shine.

This week has seen several injuries including Wayne Rooney, Phil Jones and Glen Johnson who will all be unavailable for the game against Moldova. Walcott however remains upbeat saying “It’s a great opportunity for the youngsters coming into the squad to take their chance. I came in at a young age and got a hat-trick against Croatia so there are chances to be taken and if you’re good enough the manager will pick you.”

“There a good balance between the younger players and more experienced ones and it can only be positive for England to see the youngsters coming through. I’ve trained with them and they look bubbly and confident.”

Daniel Sturridge and Jermain Defoe also could be set to miss the match, speaking about Sturridge Walcott said “he’s got a knock but fingers crossed he should be OK for Friday and Tuesday.”

These injuries could give Walcott a role upfront but he remains low key over this, he said “that’s not for me to say. It’s up to the manager and I’m happy to play anywhere.”

Walcott’s teammate Jack Wilshere was subbed off in Arsenal’s last match but Walcott thinks he should be ready for the Moldova game, “Jack has an illness but just needs a few days to recover.”

England beat Molodva 5-0 in September last year but Walcott doesn’t want to get complacent, “We must treat Moldova with respect. I like to look to the first game and put in a good performance to take to the Ukraine. We are professional, we know the task ahead.”
