West Ham plotting move for Steven Gerrard

West Ham United are considering a move to sign Steven Gerrard, should he be released from Liverpool.

According to United’s Vice-Chairwoman, Karren Brady, plans are already in place to take the veteran midfielder to Upton Park in the pre-season.

Gerrard, aged 34, is yet to pen a new deal with Liverpool, as questions remain unanswered regarding his future at Anfield.

“Gerrard is capable of playing in all manner of roles, he’s a terrific example to his teammates and clearly a sound advisor of the manager’s,” said Brady in her column in The Sun.

“Soon after Steven Gerrard reached that age in May, the shouts began that Liverpool would shortly cut him loose, offering him a job on the support staff.

“Or let him go, as Chelsea did to his fellow hundred-capper Frank Lampard, two years his senior and very much proving his worth at Manchester City.

“He [Gerrard] has several good years in him yet.”
