Swansea City striker, Wilfried Bony, is set to deal Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal a transfer blow by penning a new deal at the Liberty Stadium.

The Ivorian, who had a superb debut season in England last year, was a wanted man over the Summer with the trio mentioned all keen on landing him, but manager, Gary Monk, stood firm and rejected all enquiries and offers that came the club’s way.

After signing Bony for ÂŁ12million from Vitesse, the star-striker netted 20 goals in 44 appearances and has since then caught the eye of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs, who were all interested in signings strikers over the Summer.

Liverpool were the favourites to land the Ivorian after it was reported that the striker himself was ‘desperate’ to join Anfield as he wanted Champions League football.

However, no move was completed and he is now set to sign an extension at the Liberty.

Bony’s current deal expires in 2017, but the club want to offer him a one-year extention, and the striker has revealed that he’s happy to commit to the club.

He said: “Negotiations are going very well. Hopefully things will be done this week.

“I have a great relationship with my team-mates, the staff and fans. It is a fantastic club and I am happy to be here.

“I am focused on Swansea and a one-year extension would be perfect for me.”
