Stats suggest that Manchester United may be relegated. Although football isn’t decided by statistics however the beggining of this season is identical to another season where the club was relegated in 1922. Both teams had a scottish manager, rivals city beat them 4-1 in both seasons, in both 1922/23 & 2013/14 seasons they lost to liverpool by one goal, drew to chelsea, lost to west brom at home by 1 goal, beat sunderland and then drew their next game 1-1.
The 1922/23 season resulted in the club going down into what was then Division 2 which may imply the same result this season.
The current manager Moyes has had a mixed start to his career losing 3 of his first 8 games in charge. The pressure of following up from Sir Alex Ferguson the most successful manager in English history may get to the current manager Moyes. Hopefully for the fans it’s simply coincidence that the club has started the league this way and that they are not fated to be relegated. The first scottish manager to take charge of the Red Devils ended up getting relegated and spent the three following years in the league below.
