Wojciech Szczesny insists Manchester United need to encounter the whole Juventus team, not only Cristiano Ronaldo.
The focus is entirely on the Portuguese superstar who will be seen on the Old Trafford turf for the second time since his departure from Manchester United. Max Allegri is likely to retain him in the starting lineup and it remains to be seen whether the 33 year old manages to bring out the best from him or not.
Szczesny has been the preferred choice in the Juventus goal this season and the onus will be on him to deny the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford from finding the back of the net. The Polish keeper is well aware of the brilliant atmosphere at the stadium having played here a number of times during his stint with Arsenal and will be looking to make the most of it.
“We feel that, if we win in ÂManchester, we are virtually in the next round and that has to be our main objective.
“And, for me, Old Trafford is a stadium where you like to play and win. At Arsenal, I played many matches against them and they were very special.
“Our challenge is to demonstrate in this Champions League that we can go a long way – and beating United would show we are on the right track.”
“We want to win the Âtrophy and our rivals are the same as always in Europe right now – ÂBarcelona, Real, Bayern, City and ÂLiverpool. Within that group there should the names of the finalists.
“We believe we are good enough to do it. The Juve of this season aspires to win everything – and not just Âbecause we’ve signed Cristiano ÂRonaldo. As a group, we have Âimproved and are more consistent.”
