Xherdan Shaqiri has made his Liverpool teammates aware of the hostile atmosphere at the Stadio San Paolo.
Shaqiri had a brief stint at Inter Milan before joining Stoke City in the summer of 2015. The Swiss international wasn’t so lucky as he barely stayed at the San Siro for a six month spell but he did have the opportunity to feel the environment at the Naples stadium.
Liverpool are set to travel to Italy to face Napoli in their first away match in the Champions League and Shaqiri feels it is going to be a stern test for the team. The Reds had faced each other in a preseason friendly in Dublin which also happened to be Alisson’s first game in a Liverpool shirt.
Although they cruised to a 5-0 win in that match the 26 year old is expecting a different challenge this time. Shaqiri said, “It’s always special to play in Naples. With Inter that time it was a big derby, they hate each other!
“Before the game, on the bus, it was hard and they have crazy fans. They are a good team, they’ve played together many year
“We played them in pre-season and won 5-0 but this game will be totally different to go there and take three points.
They are used to playing together many years now, it’s similar to Tottenham. But also in the stadium they play at home and it’s always difficult to win a game away in Naples
It will be a hard game.”
