Another Merseyside team and another team that have failed to win the Premier League. Plenty of league titles for Liverpool Football Club, but they have never won it since it’s been known as the Premier League.

Founded in 1892, the club joined the Football League the following year and has played at Anfield since its formation. Liverpool established itself as a major force in English and European football in the 1970s and 1980s when Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish led the club to a combined eleven League titles and four European Cups.

Under the management of Rafael BenĂtez and captained by homegrown player Steven Gerrard, Liverpool became European champions for the fifth time in 2005, before a sixth title was added under JĂĽrgen Klopp in 2019.

3. Chelsea – 2182 points

Six time winners and current Premier League champions make it to third place on our list. Chelsea won their first major honour, the League Championship, in 1955. They won the FA Cup for the first time in 1970 and their first European honour, the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, in 1971.

After a period of decline in the late 1970s and 1980s, the club enjoyed a revival in the 1990s and had more success in cup competitions. The past two decades have been the most successful in Chelsea’s history: they won five of their six league titles and the UEFA Champions League during this period. Chelsea are one of five clubs to have won all three of UEFA’s main club competitions, and the only London club to have won the Champions League.
