The right-back has just a year left on his current Bayern contract

Arsenal are preparing a deal for Bayern Munich’s Rafinha.

According to Metro, the Gunners are set to launch a bid for the 30-year old when the summer transfer window opens, as they look for potential backup to current first-choice Hector Bellerin.

It is unlikely that the defender would unseat Bellerin as the starting right-back but with Mathieu Debuchy’s future at the club currently uncertain – with the Frenchman potentially leaving permanently in summer – they are on the lookout for a backup RB.

Rafinha has done a decent job over the years at Bayern and mainly at Schalke and if Bellerin was to get injured or was just rotated, then he could easily do a job in the right-back position.

Ancelotti may choose to sell him on

Carlo Ancelotti is set to take over at the Bundesliga side in summer and it is uncertain as to whether or not he will choose to keep Rafinha and whether he sees a future for the 30-year old at the club is yet to be seen.

However, if he does indeed decide to offload the defender, then the Gunners will be waiting to sign him up.

He has had to play as a second-choice under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich and he could be set to do it again at Arsenal, if they do indeed manage to land him in the summer.
