Antoine Griezmann and Diego Simeone to stay in Spain
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has reiterated his desires to keep both Antoine Griezmann and Diego Simeone at the club for the long-term, despite reported interest from Premier League side Chelsea.
The Spanish giants are in a tricky predicament following the news that they have been banned from making transfers, but despite that, Cerezo is adamant that the club will keep the star assets.
Both Griezmann and Simeone have been linked with moves to Chelsea at the end of the season, with Roman Abramovich set to hire a new permanent manager over the summer.
However, reports today emerged claiming that Abramovich has withdrawn his interest in Simeone because he’s too much like Jose Mourinho.
As for Griezmann, he’s reiterated his desires to stay put at Atletico, and the club president has backed his Frenchman to stay and has also backed the manager to stay put as well.
Duo To Stay?
“Griezmann is a global football star,” Cerezo told RMC.
“Griezmann has a long-term contract, and no-one has spoken to us about a possible transfer.
“He is a world football star and he still has plenty of time with us.
“And Atletico will allow him to go as high as possible.”
