Barcelona and Chelsea are both looking to bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke.
Barcelona see the 22 year old as a possible replacement for the departing Cesc Fabregas, but Chelsea are also looking to bring the playmaker to Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his squad.
Koke has been Atletico for his whole career and has played a key role in Atletico’s successful season in which they beat both city-rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona to the La Liga title, and also reached the Champions League final, beating Barcelona and Chelsea on the way.
The midfielder only agreed a contract extension with Atletico in January, a contract that should keep him at the club until 2018. He has told Spanish magazine Marca that he is content at the club, despite being flattered by both teams’ interest.
He said: “I still haven’t had time to read what has come out. I am on holiday and I plan to disconnect.
“Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world and that they are interested in you means that you must be doing something right. That is very nice for a footballer.
“In any case, I only think about keeping working. I want to stay here and everyone knows it. I see myself at Atletico next season.”
