Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed the club has made an offer for former Chelsea Captain John Terry.

Terry is available on a free transfer this summer having ended his 22-year association at Stamford Bridge.

John Terry admitted that while he’s retiring from Chelsea Football Club, he’s not hanging up his boots altogether.

After making that clear clubs have been showing interest in the Blues veteran, Aston Villa being one of them, and Stoke City is the other.

Now Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast said: “I’d love to have him at the football club.

“He’s a fantastic captain and great leader.

“We’ve made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It’s up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham.”

Harry strongly believes the 36-year-old still has something to offer.

“He played for me the other week in Michael Carrick’s testimonial. Fergie had the 2008 Champions League-winning team, I had an All-Star team and I had John at the back with Jamie Carragher – and I would have them two together all day long. They were fantastic.

“I had a chat with him and said to him come in – he’s doing his coaching badges – have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?”
