Serie A giants to pounce on Liverpool centre-back

Inter Milan are keen on signing Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel and could bring him to the San Siro on a free transfer next season.

The Slovakian centre-back has just one-year remaining on his current deal at Anfield and after revealing he won’t sign anything until the end of the current campaign, he could be ready to move on.

Skrtel Contract Snub

The 30-year-old has been at Liverpool since 2008, going on to make 217 Premier League appearances for The Reds, but with just one year left on his current deal, there is fear within the club that he may seek an exit this time next year.

Liverpool have already offered Skrtel one contract extension, but the defender turned it down and informed the club he will wait until the end of the current season to decide his future.

It’s believed the board at Anfield offered Skrtel a three-year extension, but inserted a clause which stated that he had to play a certain amount of games in order to earn his salary. A clause that the defender didn’t agree to.

Inter Milan Interest

According to reports, the Slovak has no intentions of signing a new deal in Merseyside and wants a move away with Italy his preferred destination.

Inter Milan have been alerted to the reports and are keen on signing the 30-year-old with growing fears that Nemanja Vidic isn’t happy at the San Siro.

Nemanja Vidic Replacement

The ex-Manchester United star is reportedly unsettled in Italy and wants a quick move away from the club he joined just two years ago.
