Players Who are Out of Contract

Anthony Martial, the hero of United’s last campaign looks to be set to join Sevilla on loan.

Reports from the same paper that linked Martial to Manchester before anyone knew who he was and reported first on his displeasure over his kit number have announced that Sevilla have made a loan offer for the Frenchmen.

Although the transfer seems ridiculous, due to the source it comes from some weight must be given to the rumour. Crazier things have happened in football.

Martial could move to Spain
Anthony Martial finds himself phased out of United as Sevilla swoop in for a loan bid.

The out of favour striker has found life under Mourinho difficult. Despite twelve starts and five appearances off the bench, Martial would be upset. The international footballer has been forced out to the wing despite his preferred position being striker. He also frequently finds himself bellow Rooney, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Lindgard and Rashford in the pecking order to play on the flanks.

This being said, the move still requires Manchester’s approval. The Red Devils are still invested in their Europa League campaign. This means that they aren’t likely to let him go.

The 21 year old is still learning his trade, so for Mourinho it’s a decision on whether going on loan or staying amongst the team would be better for his development.

‘The Special One’ has repeatedly said in press conferences that the only way a player is leaving Manchester is if they ask. He is pleased with the squad he has at his disposal and is unlikely to willingly remove such a valuable attacking threat from his squad.

If the move were to go ahead, Sevilla would be a great option. The Spanish club are one point behind 2nd place Barcelona and the reigning Europa League champions. Martial is an established technical and physical threat and going to Spain would be beneficial in developing mental ability.

So have your say in the comments. Should Martial be looking abroad? Or do you believe Old Trafford is where he needs to be?
