Portuguese media claim deal is done

AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao will be a Chelsea player come next season, according to reports in Portugal.

The Colombian international, who is currently on international duty for the Copa America in Chile, has reportedly agreed to sign for The Blues on a season-long loan, with a view of making it permanent this time next year.

Falcao in England

The deal will be similar to the one Falcao was involved in this season with Manchester United. The striker spent the season on-loan at Old Trafford, but after flopping, Louis Van Gaal chose not to make the deal a permanent one.

The 29-year-old netted just four times for The Red Devils during his season there, but Jose Mourinho is confident he can help the out-of-form striker and wants to give him a second chance to prove himself in England.

Mourinho Wants To Help Falcao

Speaking in an interview earlier this week, Mourinho admitted that he would sign Falcao as he wants the Premier League to see the real Falcao, the one they saw at FC Porto and Atletico Madrid.

Reports did emerge yesterday that Liverpool were going to try and hijack the deal, but according to sources in Portugal, a deal has already been agreed between Monaco and Chelsea.

It’s likely to be announced after the Copa America.

Chelsea’s Striker Hunt

Chelsea are in need of a striker after Didier Drogba announced his decision to leave the club, and there are still concerns over Loic Remy‘s future, after some reports claim he’s in advanced talks with West Ham United.
