Sanches subject of Europe-wide interest

Liverpool have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Benfica sensation Renato Sanches.

The midfielder has a ÂŁ62.3 million buy-out clause, making it hard for both sides to fund the cash to make the deal happen, without letting players go.

Sanches, 18, has established himself in the Benfica starting XI this season, making 25 appearances, scoring twice.

According to reports, Benfica are close to agreeing a deal with a major club over the coming months. And both the Reds and United are keen to make sure the youngster’s future is with them – as one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

Mourinho key to deal

If United are to secure the signing of the Portugal international, it is likely to come down to whether Jose Mourinho joins the Red Devils this summer, according to reports.

Jorge Mendes is the agent of both Mourinho and Sanches, meaning that United would have an upper-hand over their arch rivals, to get a deal done with the Portuguese outfit. And it is believed that Mendes is keen to strike a deal for both to head to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Juventus and Real Madrid are also interested in the Portuguese.
