Arsenal and Man Utd shunned by Newcastle star

Contrary to reports earlier in the week, Cheick Tiote of Newcastle has poured scorn on any rumours that he is to leave Tyneside.

The battling midfielder has been linked recently with a dream move to either Arsenal or Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has moved quickly to dispell any truth in the rumours stating: ‘I saw the quotes that appeared yesterday, but they are not accurate.

‘Yes, there was some interest in me over the summer, and that can be a bit distracting, but nothing came of it. I’m back to full fitness and only thinking about doing my best for the team.

‘We are not in a good position in the league right now and I want to get us up to where we should be. I am as committed as I have ever been to Newcastle.’

Under-fire Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew, has also responded to the reports: ‘When a player goes to their own country, and that can be Africa, France, Holland, we always seem to get misquoted versions of events, and this is one of those cases.’

Pardew, who still seems to have the support of owner, Mike Ashley, will be wanting to turn the fortunes of the club from the North East around as soon as possible, and this news will be of some relief during a difficult period for the club.
