Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has stated that he is interested in leaving Newcastle United and that Arsenal have contacted the player’s agent.

The Ivorian has spent four years at Newcastle, however, after rumours of a new contract for the midfielder it now seems that Newcastle are yet to offer him one.

Tiote told the press in the Ivory Coast, ‘I want to leave. I’ve spent four years with Newcastle. I think I have reached a stage where it’s maybe time to look elsewhere for a new challenge.’

‘I will focus on upcoming games and let’s see what happens between now and December.

‘It is true there were contacts for me from Arsenal and a club in Russia. I’d prefer to stay in England.’

The midfielder looks set for an exit, but will he be heading to The Emirates?
