Arsenal fans have been demanding big-name signings throughout the summer, but the fans patience is starting to run out. Auxerre’s Yaya Sanogo remains the only signing for the summer, but he can soon get some company.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are closing in on long-term target Matthias Ginter from Freiburg in Bundesliga. The Gunners are supposed to have made a £6 million bid for the versatile talent, which is believed to be the Germans asking price.
Ginter primarily plays as a central defender, but can play higher up the pitch as well. Arsenal has looked for defensive reinforcements, especially since captain Thomas Vermaelen was ruled out for three months, meaning that Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny currently are the only first team options att the heart of defence.
Swansea’s Ashley Williams and Valencia’s Adil Rami has also been targeted by the North London club.
