Arsenal ready to part ways with Cedric Soares in January transfer window
As the January transfer window approaches, Arsenal appears ready to part ways with seasoned defender Cedric Soares. The Gunners’ 32-year-old Portuguese midfielder, who has been with the club since 2020, is believed to be on the market, with the club open to bids.
Cedric has made 60 senior games for Arsenal, but this season has seen him on the margins, appearing in only one game, a quick three-minute cameo in the Carabao Cup.
Despite being praised by manager Mikel Arteta as a ‘great’ servant, Cedric’s playing time has decreased, causing the North London club to consider selling him before his contract expires at the end of the season.
Cedric, a dynamic and resilient player, has helped Arsenal come back from the edge on numerous occasions. However, since his arrival, the scenario at the Emirates Stadium has changed, with Arsenal evolving from a mid-table squad to a legitimate title challenger.
With heavy competition for playing time and his contract expiring in 2024, Cedric appears to be on his way out of Arsenal.
The question now is whether this departure will take place in January or wait until the summer transfer window.
However, given his skill set and availability, clubs throughout England and Europe will be keen to sign the seasoned full-back, making him a possible sought-after asset in the coming transfer market.
