The Gunners signed defender from Southampton last Summer

Arsenal have been charged by the FA for breaching agent rules during the transfer process of Calum Chambers from Southampton last Summer.

Although the details have not been fully revealed, agent Alan Middleton has also been charged for breaching the rules and regulations of the transfer.

Middleton has until 17th June to respond to the charge, whilst Arsenal will have until the 26th after they requested more time to appeal.

Chambers to Arsenal

The 20-year-old defender, who can play right-back and centre-back, joined The Gunners last Summer in a deal worth ÂŁ16million after agreeing to leave St Marys Stadium with a whole host of other first-team players.

Chambers went on to make 36 appearances for Arsene Wenger‘s side in his debut season, before being dropped for the majority of the second-half of the season due to ‘hitting the wall’, according to the manager.

Wenger revealed he didn’t intend to play Chambers as much as he did, but due to injury problems across the back-line, his hand was forced.

Two Charges In Recent Weeks

What punishment Arsenal could receive for the charge is not yet clear, but it’s the second FA charge they’ve been involved with in recent days.

It was reported earlier this week that Jack Wilshere had accepted his FA charge for his actions during the FA Cup trophy parade.
