Arsenal is reportedly on the verge of signing Royal Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren in January. The Gunners, who are currently near the top of the Premier League table, are ready to strengthen their squad in order to improve their chances in the second half of the season.

Vermeeren, an 18-year-old star, has been making waves in his hometown and was crucial in Antwerp winning their first domestic league title in 66 years. Despite Antwerp’s problems in the Champions League, Vermeeren has continued to impress. His performances have caught the interest of popular clubs such as Barcelona, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Arsenal appears to be the main contender in the hunt to sign the highly rated midfielder. Manager Mikel Arteta believes Vermeeren has immense potential and sees him as a future Premier League star. Arsenal’s interest in Vermeeren comes from their desire to strengthen their midfield, particularly given the doubts surrounding the future of Jorginho, who joined the club on an 18-month loan from Chelsea last January.

The Gunners are ready to activate Vermeeren’s contract ahead of the January transfer window’s formal start and are reportedly willing to pay €15 million (ÂŁ13.1 million) for his services. This possible signing may be a good investment for Arsenal as they want to strengthen their team for a successful second half of the season.
