Arsenal are ready to make a Summer bid for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reine.

The Spaniard, who spent last season out on-loan in Italy with Napoli, has returned to Anfield after his loan expired, and with the two parties failing to agree on a permanent deal, the shot-stopper is now available for transfer and The Gunners are ready to renew their interest in him.

Manager Arsene Wenger was keen on signing Reina a few seasons ago, and now that The Reds have purchased Simon Mignolet, the club are finally willing to let their ‘keeper leave on a permanent basis.

A potential stumbling block in the transfer is the asking price, and Wenger is not prepared to match Liverpool’s valuation for the 30-year-old, and Reina’s agent has confirmed that his future is in a tricky place at the moment.

Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told ESPN: “It’s very difficult for Pepe to remain here [Napoli]. From June 30, he will return to Liverpool because they want to maximise his sale, and Napoli are not willing to spend what is required.”

Wenger is on the look out for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny after the departure of Lukasz Fabianski, and the loan-deal for Emiliano Viviano expiring.
