Arsenal to move for Joao Moutinho

Arsenal are reportedly showing interest in AS Monaco midfielder, Joao Moutinho, who has been a long-term admirer of London rivals, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur and also Manchester United.

The Portuguese star was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the Summer after seeing his team-mate, Radamel Falcao, join them on a seasong-long loan.

However, a deal between the two clubs never came and now it looks like Arsenal are keen to bring him to England after all.

Chelsea and Spurs have been long-term admirers of the midfield-man, with Spurs close to signing him back when Andre Villas-Boas was in charge, only for the deal to collapse on Transfer Deadline Day.

According to reports in Italy, Arsene Wenger sees the 28-year-old as a perfect replacement for Mikel Arteta, who as it stands, will leave at the end of the season once his contract expires.

Due to Financial Fair Play, Monaco have had to cut their spending and also face selling some of their highest earners just to balance the books out, and Moutinho could be one of the players sacrificed.
