Former-Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has taken a staggering £160k-a-week pay-cut in order to join Italian side AS Roma.
The left-back, who left Stamford Bridge this Summer after his contract expired, has officially completed his move to the Serie A side after being pictured in Rome’s airport, and news has now come out revealing that Cole will only be on £35k-a-week.
The Englishman could eventually earn up to £80k-a-week including bonuses, but his official weekly pay stands at a mere £35k, which is quite a contrast from his £200k-a-week contract at Chelsea.
Cole is often referred to as ‘Cashley’ by Arsenal fans, who were forced to sell the left-back to Chelsea when he laughed off their £55k-a-week contract. It was believed that he wanted £60k instead, but the teams couldn’t agree to that and he was eventually sold to The Blues.
