La Liga side want to re-sign left-back
Atletico Madrid have confirmed that they are in formal talks with Chelsea regarding a potential deal for left-back Filipe Luis.
The Brazilian only left Atletico for Chelsea last summer, but after failing to break into Jose Mourinho‘s first-team and after struggling to settle in England, it’s reported that he already wants a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Luis Struggles
Luis has been behind Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order and has struggled to get regular first-team football, despite being the natural left-back and he’s ready to end his unsuccessful Blues career already.
Mourinho coughed up £15.8million for the 29-year-old this time last year, but after making jut 26 appearances for the Premier League champions, it’s believed the player is ready to make a swift return to Spain and to Atletico.
Speaking in a recent interview, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo, has admitted that the clubs are in negotiations and the Spanish side would love to see Luis back at the club.
Atletico Want Deal
“There are negotiations in place but I don’t know how fruitful they will be,” Cerezo said.
“We would be delighted if he comes back and I think that in the end, we will find a solution.
“As always, the financial aspect takes precedence over the sentimental aspect but I believe a deal can be reached.”
Luis still has two years on his contract in West London after signing a three-year deal last summer.
