Atletico Madrid have confirmed that they are in talks with Manchester United to sign Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.
The player has been increasingly frustrated with his role as a impact sub throughout the past few seasons and has been considering his options ahead of the new season.
La Liga winners and Champions League finalists have been linked with Hernandez for some time now, and with the recent departure of Diego Costa, the club have now stepped up their efforts to sign the forward.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone has confirmed reports that his side are in advanced talks to secure a deal to bring the striker to Spain.
The technical department are handling it,’ he said.
‘Like any other player who we are interested in, Hernandez has a chance of arriving before the transfer window closes.’
It is understood that United are willing to let their man go for at least £15m, but Atletico are hoping to strike a deal for £10m.
